Sonhos angolanos – Developing the Future
This book documents the story behind the future dreams of Cambamba’s residents.
'Cambamba I' and 'Banga We' are iron shack settlements fringing a newly-built quarter of Angola’s capital Luanda. Migrants from Angolas different provinces are stranded here for various reasons. But all of them share one hope: That Luanda will improve their life and that their dreams will come true.
‚Future-makers’ was the title of a photo exhibition realized in November 2012 in Cambamba I at the suggestion of Edda Grunwald, Deutsche Gesellschaft für internationale Zusammenarbeit in Luanda. It was arranged by the Angolan Photographe Edson Chagas and his German colleague Ralf Bäcker in cooperation with the Cambamba women’s group. The exhibition aimed at initiating a discussion process focussing on what ‘Future’ means for Angola and its population.
In this book all participants wrote down their future dreams.
It puts a face and voice to those at the fringe of Angola’s society and encourages them to fight for the realization of their dreams.
