Baseline study conducted with partner organisations
The first common activity and capacity building process of FormPRO in Viana was a baseline study conducted together with the Angolan partners between July 18thand August 5th, 2011. CENFOC – a vocational training center, the Centre for Entrepreneurship as well as AIA and AECCOPA – 2 business associations - together with four FormPRO consultants collected important information for further steps of the project.
The first jointly mastered challenge: to collect contacts to companies in the construction sector in Viana. To get ready for interviews - an interviewer workshop on how to conduct interviews was successfully held: Within 13 days of interviews, 23 companies could be visited and acquired for the first time a systematic knowledge about satisfaction and demand of Technical and Vocational Training in the construction sector. Companies showed great interest in contributing to the training system. However, it became clear that training centres have to make overtures towards the private sector in order to guarantee a labour market orientated training.
The participation of the Angolan partners was a success and the skills they acquired can be used for further studies they do for themselves. But not only that - now, there is a directory of more then 90 companies located in Viana which are operating in the field of construction.
