Client and producer (or supplier) of a product have to agree on the quality characteristics of a product. This agreement does not have to be expressed verbally or in writing, however both parties have to have the same perception of the process and the final product.
Quality does not happen on its own – follow the track of the
“10 points of action for quality”
- Which materials and tools do you use for the production?
- Do you plan the production process in a detailed way before starting the production?
- Does the production process follow the planned steps? Is it necessary to change or adapt some steps because the production does not work as envisaged? If so, what changes do you make?
- Do you clean work place and tools after completion of the production and put everything back into its place?
- Does the final product correspond to the exact specifications of the client?
- Will the product be sustainable for the period desired by the client without any premature failures?
- Do you consider all necessary aspects of safety at work (protective helmet, safety gloves, safety glasses, etc.)?
In addition to that, do you consider aspects of cleanliness and hygiene (clean tools, wash hands, etc.)? - (a) How long does the production process take in comparison to an average production process of the same kind?
(b) How much material is used? It should neither be too little nor too much. - Do you consider ecological aspects (use of chemicals, waste recycling, etc.)?
- Do you ask the client directly about his or her level of satisfaction with the product?
